SharePoint at UNO User Training & Support The University has recently installed a campus intranet based upon Microsoft SharePoint. This website provides links to how-to documentation for faculty, staff and students. Please click on the title of interest in the links column, left. An intranet provides increased security by requiring authenticated logon to gain access. In addition to being an intranet portal, SharePoint is a content management system and a document management system. SharePoint hosts a variety of collaborative tools including shared documents, blogs and wikis. All units on campus are encouraged to develop their SharePoint site. Site content can be easily added so that site managers will have greater freedom in maintaining their sites. In addition, all faculty, staff and students have the ability to add their own SharePoint site, or MySite, to the intranet. The UCC is holding training sessions for SharePoint. Individuals and site developers are encouraged to sign up. The campus intranet has been logically divided into two portals: an administrative portal for non-student oriented sites and a collaborative portal for student-oriented sites. The administrative portal URL is https://sharepoint.uno.edu and the collaborative portal URL is http://privateers.uno.edu. Faculty and staff have access to the administrative portal, while faculty, staff and students have access to the collaborative portal. To logon to either portal, point your browser at the URL given above. You will be prompted to login. Your username is your email address (example swhite@uno.edu) and the password is the same password used to login to WebSTAR, email and Blackboard.
